Another year ended and a new one just begun. The calendar is very clear about the exact points of beginning and end, but in accounting this is more of a process: opening new posting period and in parallel wrapping up the previous one. Eventually, the previous posting periods are set to the status “Locked”, preventing users making modifications. But what if some amendments or finetuning are still needed?
To save you the effort of changing the period status back and forth SAP Business One allows you to define whether certain fields in Journal Entries can be updated even when posting period is locked:
By default, this checkbox is not selected. When selected, you can update the fields Ref. 1, Ref. 2, Ref. 3, Remarks, and User-Defined Fields header and lines in journal entries recorded for posting period with status “Locked”.
